A’aliyah Abdul-Karim

A’aliyah Abdul-Karim is an educator, author, and lecturer. She became a Muslim in 1969, and subsequently became a founder and assistant national coordinator of the National Islam Sisters Alliance (NISA). She has initiated numerous community projects, including, but not limited to: Uhuru Academy, Concepts East, a Weekend School for Muslim children, ImpAfrica, community theater, Project Prelude (a release-time program for Muslim children in public schools), and fashion shows for modest Muslim women. Sister A’aliyah graduated Summa Cum Laude from City College, where she earned her M.A.
